Electrical Thermography. Faults visible under load.

Switchgear · Distribution Boards · Drives · Buildings · Photovoltaics

Thermographic inspection of electrical systems under load – with calibrated Fluke thermal cameras.

Overheating and loose connections found before they become failures.

For international operators of German sites we combine electrical thermography with the DGUV V3 inspection visit and document the findings so your maintenance team – and your insurer – can act on them. Reporting in English on request.

Benefits of thermography

Did you know?

Around 30% of all fires in industrial facilities have an electrical cause. Regular thermographic inspections can uncover these risks early and prevent fires.

Benefits of Thermography

Thermography is one of the most effective methods for preventive maintenance. It's fast, non-contact, and doesn't interrupt operations.

Early Detection

Spot defects and overloads before they cause failures or fires.

Cost Reduction

Avoid unplanned downtime and cut repair costs through timely maintenance.

Energy Efficiency

Find heat losses in buildings, piping, and equipment to reduce energy costs.

Non-Contact

Measurement without physical contact and without shutting down. Your production keeps running.

Documentation

Detailed reports with thermal images, temperature readings, and specific action items.

Fluke Precision

Calibrated Fluke thermal cameras only, for the highest measurement accuracy and reliability.

Versatile applications

Where Thermography Makes a Difference

From electrical systems to mechanical components to building envelopes, thermography reveals weak points that are invisible to the naked eye. Qualified through the TÜV SÜD Akademie seminar “Thermografie an elektrischen Anlagen” (thermography on electrical systems); we work with calibrated Fluke thermal cameras.

Electrical Systems & Switchgear

Switchgear, distribution boards, transformers, fuses. Catch overheating and loose connections early.

Mechanical Equipment

Bearings, gearboxes, motors, couplings. Detect increased friction and wear through temperature anomalies.

Building Thermography

Locate thermal bridges, insulation defects, leaks, and moisture damage.

Photovoltaic Systems

Hot spot detection, defective cells, bypass diode failures, and connection problems.

Heating & Piping Systems

Locate blockages, leaks, and malfunctions without contact.

Process Monitoring

Monitor temperature distribution in production processes and optimize parameters.

Focus: Photovoltaics

PV Thermography. Find hidden power losses.

Thermographic testing of PV systems is one of our specialties. Defects often go unnoticed for a long time and cause gradual performance degradation.

Hot Spot Detection

Localized overheating of individual cells, indicating cell defects, shading, or soiling.

Defective Bypass Diodes

Faulty bypass diodes produce characteristic heat patterns that are clearly identifiable via thermography.

Connection Problems

Loose or corroded connectors create contact resistance that shows up as heat sources.

String Failures

Failed strings show clearly different temperature profiles compared to functioning strings.

Tip: We recommend combining PV thermography with a DGUV V3 test of the PV system. Thermal and electrical testing in one visit.

Our Equipment: Fluke Only

We work exclusively with calibrated Fluke thermal cameras, the global leader in test and measurement equipment.

High Resolution

Detailed thermal images with fine temperature resolution for precise diagnostics.

Calibrated Accuracy

Regularly calibrated cameras deliver exact temperature values for legally compliant reports.

Professional Analysis

Our thermographers are certified and evaluate every image with expert knowledge.

Frequently Asked Questions about Thermography

Industrial thermography uses thermal imaging cameras for non-contact surface temperature measurement under load. We measure with calibrated Fluke thermal imagers. This makes increased contact resistance, overload, and wear visible before they cause a failure – without interrupting operations.

Thermography is used on electrical systems, switchgear and distribution boards, on mechanical components such as bearings, gearboxes and motors, on building envelopes, and in preventive maintenance of production plants.

Qualified through the TÜV SÜD Academy: thermography on electrical installations. Measurement and assessment are carried out by a qualified electrician – important because findings in switchgear must be evaluated electrically, not just photographed.

Effort depends on the number of cabinets and distribution boards, accessibility, and the load condition we can schedule. Fixed-price offer after a site visit or assessment – no hidden items. The initial consultation is free.

For heavily loaded switchgear and distribution boards, an annual cycle has proven itself – many property insurers require it. The decisive factors are system condition, load, and your insurer’s requirements.

Standards & Regulatory References

Our thermographic inspections follow recognised industry associations and standards:

  • VATh – German Federal Association for Applied Thermography, quality standards for certified thermographers
  • DIN 54190 – Non-destructive testing with thermography (Parts 1–3)
  • DGUV Regulation 3 – Legal basis for electrical inspections, complemented by thermographic procedures
